Marina Store Gatherings: The Heart of Port Ludlow’s Pet Community
Most of Port Ludlow residents either have had or have a dog or cat or multiples of each. On any good weather day, the Marina Store deck is a favorite gathering place to meet and greet. Accompanied by their care givers, the dogs receive petting and owner approved treats, as their People exchange local news.
As local residents and visitors know, talking about their animal’s adventures and habits can entertain the crowd for hours, or at least until the cup of coffee is empty.
The cadre of dogs are known as Brizo, Bungie, Princess, Buddy, Fred, and Ruger. (if I have not mentioned your dog’s name, do let me know)
Great friendships are developed by the dogs and by the owners. Most owners can remember the dog’s name but not the owner’s name and refer to each other as “Ruger’s Dad”, for instance.
Brizo, the lady Poodle, has multiple admirers. The most smitten is Ruger who has a special greeting ceremony when seeing “his Lady”. I think it is the eyelashes that attract.
Port Ludlow is a community of animal lovers both wild and tame. Walking anywhere with your animal friend gives you the opportunity to meet new people in this beautiful place.
I would love to hear your animal stories and encounters with our native forest dwellers:
